Difference Between LCD and LED

Posted by on Friday, 9 December, 2011

Mainly two types of Displays are very famous among people. These are LED(Light Emitting Diodes) and LCD(Liquid Crystal Displays) displays. Due to presence of these two different kind of displays a person thinking to purchase a new display often gets confused between the two and is unable to decide which one to choose. In this article I want to discuss the  difference between LED and LCD

Accuracy of the color patterns: Due to the better techniques used in the LED display, these Displays are very accurate in their color display and that is why these are capable of presenting natural color pattern to the viewers. In this LED technology, a series of diodes is connected with each other at the edges of the LED screen and that series works more effectively to filter the natural colors of the displaying objects. When power makes these series illuminated, the effect is simply outstanding. The technological excellence of the LCD Displays  is not at par with that of the LED Displays

Contrast/Black Levels: LED displays have better contrast ratio as compare to the LCD display. Major drawbacks for a LCD display are that it is unable to create the dark areas of the images on the screen. Due to this reason there is a loss of image quality and detail. Whereas LED displays produces better black areas which in turn produces better contrast and more detailed image in the dark areas.

Viewing angles: LED displays have much better viewing angles than the LCD display. In case of LCD display beyond the 30 degree from the center the contrast ratio of the image start to diminish. LED display does not have any such limitation and they have much larger viewing angle.

Power consumption also makes a big difference between LCD and LED TVs:  Because of the fact that the LED Displays are made with better technical specifications, these Displays  consume lesser power while switched on. This attractive feature can help people in a great way to put the electric bill lower quite considerably. It is a big advantage that is provided by the LED Displays over the LCD Displays.

Finally…If you are looking for better picture quality and better features then LED display should be your first choice. If you can compromise a bit on quality then you can go for LCD display.

Google TV Coming to the UK in 6 Months

Posted by on Friday, 26 August, 2011

An “internet TV” service that allows people to switch between television and the web on the same set is to be launched in the UK by Google.

The news should officially be announced Friday by Google’s Eric Schmidt who is giving a lecture at the Edinburgh Television Festival.

Google TV hasn’t been very successful so far, according to Logitech‘s Q4 2011 fiscal year earnings. The company was one of Google’s partners for the service, but its sales of Google TV-related products fell short of expectations.

Google’s expansion of the service to the UK, however, shows that the company is far from giving up on this project.

According to the company, Google TV will allow people to search all of the content on the TV and the internet by using a single click.

The service will also allow viewers to switch between the TV and the internet on their main screen without having to adjust any cables.
